So, for one of my computers, I am looking to get a new vid card, and new monitor.

The only specs I have on the vid card is that it will do up to 2048 x 1536. The monitor is a 23" HP, and has a Maximum Resolution of 1920 x 1080. So I guess the question is, can the vid card handle this ratio? Or am I going to be stuck with, like, 1920 x something else?

Thanks in advance.

Most video cards these days can go to any resolution you can imagine. The limiting factor is the monitor or TV they are plugged in to. Currently 1920x1080 is sort of the defacto standard in computer monitors and TVs. Only very expensive ultra high resoltion screens can go higher.

For most purposes 1920x1080 is perfectly good. DVDs and games look good and the windows desktop is a good size.
