Cpu temps

I have a p8z77 v-pro a 3770k and a coolmaster 212 evo. I am concerned that my sensor on my motherboard is reading my cpu temperature wrong and failing to increase fan speed. My suspicion arises from the fact that I can be playing a demanding game i.e. planetside 2 for 4 hours and my cpu temperature never goes over 45 degree c. I have yet to overclock at all. Do these temperatures seem normal or are they too low.

Nice cool chip with an excellent coolet. I dont think 45 is out of the question. Whats the room temperature where the pc is?

the room temp is about 70 F. I just never see my cpu fan rpm reach close to max, that the only reason why I am concerned. Shouldn't it heat up more while gaming

gaming would depend on how cpu intensive the game is. Prime95 would bring out your max temp.

I have the same cooler, and an i5 3570k overclocked to 4.3 GHz. It never goes above 55C, even at 100% load on Prime95. 45C is definitely a reasonable temp.

To see whether the temps are monitored correctly or not, run blend test in prime95 for about an hour to see max temps. 12 hours for stability test though
