Upgrade from 6850?

Hey all,

Thinking of upgrading from my 6850 and am wondering what you all think is the best upgrade for both performance and bang-for-the-buck. I'm gaming on a 22" 1680x1050 monitor w/60hz refresh. I'd like to get something strong now and then xfire/sli later to keep it going - if applicable.

6850 is already a decent card for 1680x1050 gaming.

Yes, it performs quite smooth under 1680x1050. As long as you're not planning on an HD 7970/GTX 680 for a huge amoung of cash, I would only suggest Crossfire with another 6850. Make sure your MOBO is compatible though

would be nice to know the rest of your hardware and your opsys and version... + 32 or 64bit........ and what you do/play.

however, I used 1gig cards at that res and found them lacking under certain circumstances.

Sorry about that. Yeah, I kind of figured my monitor is not ideal but I do like it - but 1080p is the sweetspot, correct? It seems the best route would be to upgrade the monitor first, then GPU?
