Parts Preferences: No real preference but I think I'd like to go with an intel cpu and amd/ati card but I'm not really picky

Additional Comments: I'd like to have a case with a window and maybe lights but those aren't a real priority. Games I'd be playing would be DayZ, TF2, L4D2, GTA4, LoL. Programs would be steam, skype, itunes, chrome,

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: My current laptop isn't made for gaming

Total comes to ~695 after rebates, taxes, and shipping which is ideal. Anything I should change that can lower price for similar preformance?

After purchasing the i5 3450 from Microcenter, it should only $150 (-$40)

You'll get the 6870 which is better than the 7770 by quite a bit and the i5 3450 which is better than a stock i5 2500K. Although you won't get to OC, the i5 3450 stock is already good enough and no OC is really necessary in most cases. For the games you listed, at 1080P, the 6870 is a must. The 7770 just simply doesn't have the power...
