Recently a bought a second hand pc.
Quite nice specs:
CPU: i7 3960x
CPU cooler: Corsair H80 (watercooling)
Motherboard: Asus P9X79 pro
GPU: Asus GTX 560Ti
RAM: 16GB (not sure what brand) @ 1333MHz
SSD: 120GB (again, not really sure what brand, sorry, I'm on my crappy laptop now)
HDD: 2TB WD green (5400 rpm)

These parts are about a year old, never have been overclocked.
Now, I was wondering, since I mainly use my pc for gaming, wouldn't an i7 3820 be better?
I don't think I will ever use my current cpu to its full potential.
Do you guys think there are people that would buy my 3960x for about €700? (I still have the original cooler)
I'd then buy a 3820 for €270 and use the money that I made to buy a new/second video card.

There will be little to no difference in gaming between the 3960x and 3820, both are great. Since that is a $1000 cpu I would recommend selling it, buying the 3820, selling the 560 TI and buying a 680 or 7970 GHZ. I'm pretty sure you could sell it for at least that price.

CPU's and motherboards are interesting things, as soon as you use it once, essentially its value plummets to like half.

I don't think it'll be worth it.
