New Builder Looking For Input

Hi everyone, I'm a recent college grad who is finally ready to build my own computer. I have been using a Gaming Laptop for the past 4 years and now that I'm settling down, its time to get a Desktop I can be proud of. I have already begun to pick out some parts and I just want some input on whether this build will all be compatible and any other additional input. I could also use input on additional cables and other little things I'll need with my build in order to make my building process smooth.

Approximate Purchase Date: e.g.: No later than the end of this month

Budget Range: ~$2,750 - $3,250 prefered (No more than $4,000)

System Usage from Most to Least Important: High end Gaming, Visual Studio Programming, Penetration Testing on a virtual network using VMWare with several Virtual Machines.

Are you buying a monitor: Yes, NVIDIA 3D vision

Parts to Upgrade: Complete Build - All Parts

Do you need to buy OS: No, Windows 7 Professional/Ultimate 64

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg prefered but open to other sites if the prices are way lower

Location: Gulfport, Mississippi, USA

Parts Preferences: Intel CPU, NVIDIA GPU

Overclocking: Not sure yet, but probably Yes

SLI or Crossfire: Probably not initially, but I want the capability to add another GPU later, so SLI a must.

Your Monitor Resolution: Buying a new monitor with 3D, so probably 1080p

Additional Comments: I want to be able to run all the latest games at 1080p with 3D, Maxing graphics.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: As stated earlier, I have a 4 year old gaming laptop and its time to move up in the world to a hardcore gaming desktop.

I have created a public wishlist on newegg that I will link you to here as it'll be the easiest way to show it, but the listing is found just below:

More about builder input
  1. NVIDIA cards aren't as good as Radeon cards for GPGPU applications like your usage. I'd rather get the Radeon 7970 as it is cheaper, yet better for your usage.

You don't need the H100. A Hyper 212 EVO is a lot cheaper and cools well enough.
  2. Thanks for the quick reply. For the GPU, I've been an NVIDIA user my whole life and I'm really happy the quality and performance of their products, so I'm pretty much set on getting an NVIDIA card over ATI Radeon. Also, I want to take advantage of the NVIDIA 3D stuff so an NVIDA card is needed.
  3. Then you would be better off with the 5xx series as it will perform better in GPGPU tasks than the 6xx series.
  4. I'll look into it for sure. Other then that, does everything look good and compatible?
