Hello,
I have an older model of a macbook (white). I charged it for a bit, and then opened it. When I opened it, the screen was black. I tried adjusting the brightness, turning it off, unplugging the charger, and pushing the spacebar. What should I do to use it again?

if turning it off and then turning it back on doesn't work at all. you should take it to an apple store. macs are not made to be fixed at home. as a matter in fact, apple goes to long lengths to make sure you have to take it back to them

I think it was a case of macbook sleep issue. What happens is your macbook goes to sleep and does not wake up. So doesn't matter what you press, the screen would remain dark. The solution is to hold down the power button for about 10 sec until you hear a clicking sound. That is the hard shutdown. After that press the power button once more and the mac would turn on. I used to have the same issue with my macbook pro mid 2009.
