Should I test my parts before putting them into my case?

I'm about to build my computer, but I was wondering if I should first build everything outside of the case and test it, or if it's just a waste of time. Thanks!

It´d be a waste of time -- just place all inside the case.

Wow that's incredibly wrong. Just setup your CPU with cooler, gpu, PSU, and ram in your motherboard on top of your motherboard box but not on the anti static bag and fire it up to see if it posts. Such a pain to get everything in only to have to take it out because your motherboard is DOA.
