Hello,

Had successfully connected a Windows Server machine to my Verizon FIOS router using a static address, but now the "lease" has expired and I don't know how to re-activate. Networking is not my forte (I'm a database guy). Help!!!

"Expired" appears under the "Status" column in the router connections list - just going by what I see. Anyway, I set the dhcp IP range to .2 - .10, deleted the static connection and created a new one w/ same MAC address and IP to .11, but still showing as "expired" (I hadn't tried rebooting the router - is that necessary?)

Don't bother with a reserved i.p on the router, just set the servers nic to

I.P x.x.x.2
Subnet 255.255.255.0
DNS and Gateway x.x.x.1 <-- routers I.P

and set all your dhcp's to the range x.x.x.10 - x.x.x.20

This way, you will have a few I.P's spare for more static devices.

A static address and not a reserved address is a must if you plan on using active directory etc. On a side note, if you do plan to use AD, you don't have to use DNS on the server as the router is handling this,

Sounds good. One thing: How do I set NIC params (like I said, I'm just a database guy)? Thanks!
