Low power SSD

I'm looking to upgrade my laptop with an SSD, preferably one with the lowest power consumption I can find. Does there tend to be general differences in power consumption between different types of SSDs (ie SATA I, II II...) or just between individual brands/models? Not much of a difference at all? I would much appreciate some input. I'm aware that power consumption will vary depending on usage, but I'm just thinking in terms of overall averages.

I have a Samsung NP550P5C-A01UB with Windows 8. Specific recommendations are welcome.

Thanks and happy new year,

  1. SSD's consume very little power in the first place! I would not put that in first place selecting a SSD http://www.anandtech.com/show/6328/samsung-ssd-840-pro-256gb-review/7
