Hey guys
I am having a few problems with my XFX 7950 Double D http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150588

I installed this card in a fresh build so there is no conflict with previous/old drivers.
I am using the 12.4 catalyst driver on Windows 7 64bit SP1. CPU is i5-3570k with 620w seasonic PSU. Everything is setup correctly.

First, I am only getting 32 FPS in Furmark Benchmark Preset: 1080 and 55 FPS in Furmark Benchmark Preset: 720
Second, I get severe video tearing/pixelation with some HD videos if I play them using media players with GPU acceleration enabled. Strange thing is that it only happens if I skip or fast forward through the vieo. If I just let the video play from the beginning, there is no tearing/pixelation.
I've tried many different media players. Happen with all of them. Also, it doesn't happen if I disable GPU acceleration.
I even did a format and freshly installed everything just to make sure it wasn't caused by corrupted system files.

Only game I've yet to test is MW3. It seems to do fine. Max settings and constant 91 FPS.

Please halp!

Hey, im going to try to help you the best i can.

I have the same card as you, and although i was getting a different issue, i was ready to rma my card for another. I was getting the equivalent of the grey screen of death. something that plagued the 5XXX series of GPU's.

Gaming on BF3, Metro, Crysis 2 running the card full load was flawless. idle was flawless, but for some reason browsing in firefox to numerous flash based websites and places like google maps caused a GSOD. Green and grey vertical bars covering the entire screen and total system crash. Google it if you don't know what im talking about. What i did was uninstall the video drivers with Atiman uninstaller, downloaded a fresh copy of 12.4 and ran the installer like normal. everything seems fine now.... so far... been a few days.

This might not be relevant to your problem, but a reinstall may help. From what i understand, the amd drivers don't always install ideally every time..

i hope this helps you.

furmark isn't a reliable benchmark since the gpu down clocks to confiscate for the high power usage, so i'd try a few more games if i were you and use gpuz or arfterburner to show your gpu activity and clocks while using the gpu. secondly why don't you try the newer 12.6 or 12.7 drivers? lastly, what are your temps?

I did try the 12.7 driver. Same issues.
Temps hit max of 71c when running Furmark.
Also, I am using GPU-Z. There is no downclocking when running Furmark Both GPU clock and memory clock are running at their maximum.

got my card at 925 with the power a 10% and it downclocks lower then the 800 default clock so that makes me wonder. i'm not sure how much help i can be here since my DD 7950 had zero problems until i overclocked like mad.

update: my card at defualt speeds runs the furmark test at 720 downclocked by powertune never passing 750mhz which is telling me your card is either that much more efficiency or something is wrong
