Hi I'm new here, just joined today. I am going to build a system with:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148840
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151255
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127687

I am set on these parts. I am getting the 16 gigs due to the mobo having only 2 memory slots. I am planning on overclocking to 4.7GHz on the CPU. The computer will be used for various tasks, including gaming. The gaming will never be too intensive however, as I mostly play maxis games, and they have very low requirements to run well.

Now how big of a PSU will I need and how many case fans should I have? Keep in mind GPU and CPU upgrades please. I will buy the case upon how many fans it has.

Almost anything from corsair seasonic antec PC&C. in the 400-500w range is more than enough

For almost any non super high end gaming rig 2 front and 1 back is fine.

As for a thermal paste recommendation, if your new to applying it don't get anything conductive, just in case. But most thermal pastes the temperature on differs by around 1-3c.

Edit: also if you aren't going to be doing professional photo/video editting there is no need to grab that much ram, I would prefer you to spend the extra money you save on a better board for overclocking, that one won't get you very far with no vrm sinks

Edit2: not to mention the 7xx chipset doesn't support the zambezi procs at all. So your cpu is incompatible.

Welcome!

First tip, always type the product name and then a link so we know what it is before opening any links e.g. AMD FX4170 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819106009

As for the rest, what is your budget?

You mentioned you want to OC the CPU, I'd suggest to spend a bit more on the mobo and an aftermarket CPU cooler is a must. I'd recommend these:
ASUS ASUS M5A97 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131767
COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103065

You don't need a huge PSU, 450-550w Corsair/Seasonic PSU will be perfect and recommended
Corsair CX500 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139027

What Case do you have in mind?
You don't need a million fans, but a decent case with 2 or 3 fans will be perfect.
Cases I would personally look at (order of preference):
1-Corsair 650D - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139006
2-Corsair 600T - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139005
3-Antec P280 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129179
4-Corsair 500R - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139010
5-Corsair 400R - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139008

Better than original board, but I'd still go for the M5A97

[EDIT]
Rosewill Challenger +1

Yup that'll work, pretty good to. I suggest it over the other one I linked.

That unit is terrible, no offense.

Any of those will do you just fine, though the first one is modular. (you can take out the cables you don't need to decrease clutter.

Edit: avoid electrically conductive thermal paste :) Its not bad though. just more of a precaution in case some does leak/squeeze out onto the mobo you'll be fine.
