:hello:

Hello,
I'm building my first gaming rig. My budget is aroung $1100. This machine is mainly going to be used for HD video editing/rendering, and mid/high level gaming. I would like someone to look over my parts list and give suggestions as to what could be changed. I also need advice on what brand/wattage PSU I need. I'm looking for a brand name PSU that can power my machine efficiently.
Here are my specs;

CPU- Intel Core i5 3570K 3.4GHz LGA
Motherboard- Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H LGA 1155 Z77 ATX Intel Motherboard
GPU- GIGABYTE GV-N66TOC-2GD GeForce GTX 660 Ti 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
RAM; Corsair Vengeance 8GB RAM
PSU: ??? Up to $125
Internal HDD; 1TB SeaGate Barracuda HDD
Boot up SSD: 64 GB Samsung SSD
Drive; Lite-On LightScribe 24X SATA DVD+/-RW Dual Layer Drive IHAS424-98
Case: CoolMaster HAF 922 OR Nzxt Phanton 421 red :pt1cable:
Need advice on cooling.

Maybe a cold cathode lighting system later. (if getting a case with side windows)

Additional details;

I live REALLY close to a Microcenter (Dallas,TX) so I can take advantage to a lot of deals they have. I'm also close to a Frys electronics.

Since this is my first computer build, I'm not sure if I would like to overclock. But I am getting the overclockable version incase I decide to overclock in the future.

Suggestions to parts that have a better price to performance ratio would be appreciated.
Thanks for looking :hello:

Solution

Don't down size on your vid card (FPS). If it comes down to $$$ then hold off on your SSD seeing how they drop down in price just about every other week. Also Microcenter has those bundle deals with the cpu + motherboard so chances are you will get that board down below for $40 - $50 cheaper than what it shows on here. Call Microcenter to be sure. Just make sure you talk to a sales person there with half a brain.

For Psu's, hx-530 and tx-550m are both really good quality in that price range. Otherwise, if you want to spend a bit more and future proof your build, allowing room for further upgrades, the hx-650 is great.

Cooling: Recommend getting the Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO (probably about $30). It is the best cpu cooler in that price range and is a massive benefit if you are thinking of overlocking.

Other: Everything u have listed looks really great. How much are you paying for your RAM though?

I'm paying $50 for the ram.
I'm trying to keep the final price under $1200. Will upgrading to i7 make a big difference?

Solution
i rather hold off from the hard drive. its much easier to add a hard drive to a exsisting system than reformatting the hard drive and cloning the hard drive to the SSD and then getting microsoft to reactivate windows

you could drop the video card to a 7870 from asus. they sell for 269.99
