The 570 is not better. Please use the chart located on the link below to help understand which cards are better than others or equal...

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107-7.html

As you can see, the 570 is about 3 tiers better than the 460. But The card you listed here is indeed a dual GTX 460 video card, not a single GTX 460 so it is like running 2 x GTX 460's in SLI which would be more along the lines of somewhere between the performance of a GTX 570 and GTX 580.

that 460 in specific is the 2win version, which is actually a dual 460 card, performs a bit better than a gtx 580, so that one is faster, for the price i would get the 460 2win http://www.evga.com/articles/00613/

The 460 2 WIN is definately faster due to its dual GPU design. It is really SLI GTX460's so it needs lots of power and will generate tons of heat. Didn't care much for all the crossfire issues I had with AMD but maybe its better with Nvidia.

Have Fun

the gtx 480 performs equally to a gtx 570, so in my opnion is a better deal, but it comes with a huge power consumption, and heat output, if you have a good case heat will not be a problem, other option since you are near the $300 range, the 7870 costs like $310 and is very close to a gtx 580 in terms of performance

What you are investing in is a dual GPU card, which means two GPUs on one PCB, or SLI. This of course, carries both the advantages and disadvantages of running multi-gpu's and even though you will get more raw performance out of the DUAL 460's, you will have to worry about balancing out heat and power consumption.

It is usually adviced that, when given the option, one should choose a single GPU setup even though it may be a bit lesser in performance, to eliminate the possibility of common multi-gpu issues like micro-stuttering, scaling, a need for a better PSU or CPU bottlenecking.

As far as driver optimization, the 460 is somewhat of an old card right now so I would guess that it scales pretty well across game and probably has sufficient driver support.

If you're in dire need of GPU performance, the 460 will give you the most power. But for future-proofing, I'd say go 570, your getting better architecture, better temps, less application optimzation problems and good driver support.

even a 7850 is a good deal at the $250 price point, performs just a fraction slower than the 7870 and is very close to the 570, the power consumption in the 7850 is extremely low, same goes for heat, and you can drive a 7850 crossfire setup with a quality 650w and it will perform bettern than a gtx 680 or a 7970

Well my budget is 297.. i kinda want to go a little lower than that 2.. but im trying to get a card that will be able to play bf3 in ultra around 40-whatever frames a second and be able to play crysis 3 on med or high whenever it comes out.

I have a intel i7 2600 and 8gb ddr3 gskill ram as well as the recon3d sound card..
if i were to get a 7850 could I do this?

yep, the 7850 is very capable, and you can put the slider to the max in the CCC without increasing any voltage gaining like 20%, and another excelent option is the gtx 480, its just $200 and the performance is very similar, but i would go for the 2gb of vram of the 7850 and its low power consumption and heat, plus you can crossfire later

its never recommendable to crossfire lower end cards cause you got no options later in the future

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/548?vs=518 the 7870 is faster, but both are very capable gpus, and there is overclocking too, if it was me, i would get the 7870
