Computer won't boot with new CPU.

Right,

Today I upgraded my old machine (tried to)
Did add new RAM, 8GB Corsair Vengeance 1600

Then I tried to upgrade my CPU from fx 4100 to fx8350, but whenever I do that, my computer won't boot, the system powers on, all fans and other hardware seems to be working, but no image on my display.

The Motherboard is ga-970a-d3 with the latest bios update.

I don't know what else I can do, I got no chance to test it with other motherboard, the CPU is brand new just got it yesterday from Novatech.

More about computer boot
  1. Check your cabling to and from your monitor, your motherboard my have more then one display out put, try changing that.
  2. The point is that the computer will boot fine with new ram & CPU, but whenever I put the new CPU in, No posts or display image
  3. Mobo revision/bios version ?

I can't see the FX-8350 being supported on the list, could be a typo though :

    http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/cpu-support-popup.aspx?pid=3908
  4. EDIT: This is most likely the problem ^^

Did you have the fx-4100 overclocked at all? Maybe that overclock won't work with the 8350.

Just a guess but it leads me to think you could try clearing the CMOS.
  5. Bios version F11
  6. If I get different m/b will the cpu work fine in it?

Currently looking at ASRock 990FX Extreme3
  7. Yea I looked into it some more. It seems your board does not support that CPU :(

Not an official link, but a highly repuatable one:

Look at one of the first lines in the post.
"The boards without VRM cooling (970A-D3 rev 1.0/1.1/1.2, 970A-DS3) have NOT been updated for 125W 8-core Vishera FX processors"

Yeah, look like I need to upgrade my old good pc with a new m/b.

Something like ASRock 990FX Extreme3, as I am willing to spend not more than 100£ on a new m/b.. As Iam limited with a budget right now, finished building my gaming pc few days ago.
  9. Yes, that's why i asked the mobo revision, the 1.3/1.4/3.0 works with the FX-8350.
As for the ASRock 990FX Extreme3, yes it will work.
  10. Thank You guys.. *went on ebay* :D
