A compromise

OK, so I'm building a new rig soon, and I have just one question.

I have the choice between a Phenom II x4/x6 & 7850 2GB and a 3570K & 6870. I'm getting from Microcenter, and the Phenom II x4 with mobo is about $100 cheaper. I'm really unsure. Better to compromise in the GPU department or CPU? I will play Skyrim, BF3, Crysis 2, Nexuiz, CS:GO, Dota 2, Darksiders II, etc.

  1. I'd go with the Phenom. GPU is the most important part in a gaming build, and out of those two options, the 7850+Phenom will game the best.

Come on bud, you know this one. I've said it how many times? I'm sure way too many, a stronger CPU can never make a weaker video card perform better. I'd go with an x4, unless you can find a Black Edition Thuban (1075T and up), thats pretty much not happening though.
  3. id wait. video card prices are going to drop some more on the AMD side

  5. Great answers. I'd go with the 3570K and 7850, but I'm on a budget, so it's not happening.
