Opinions on if worthwhile upgrade

So this is my current build:

AMD Phenom 2 x4 955 oc'd 3.7
4 GB DDR2 800 RAM
Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition

I'm seriously considering upgrading to:

AMD FX-6300
8 GB DDR3 1600 RAM
And keeping my 7870

Would this upgrade be worthwhile for gaming? I know that I would have to get a new motherboard, and I would do so if its worth it.

Its also worth mentioning that I will be selling the above current build to help make up for costs of upgrading, and I am willing to do some overclocking on the FX-6300, as I have an aftermarket cooler.
