i have a sound card that is always in use when i try to play any sound, i've uninstalled it & even removed from computer but when i put the drivers back on the same problen arises not sure if the card is broken or its me missing something simple
so if you think your clever then please help a computer novice save what little hair he's got left on his head

I know that this sounds trivial, but have you checked all the connectors and made sure that the 'mute' in the volume control was not on.

If it works for you then don't fix it.
