Please Suggest me a GPU for my old PC

Hello

I'm planning to well "upgrade" my old PC's GPU a Inno3D 9500GT and very open to suggestions to what would be the best to get.

Other specs include:

Pentium dual-core 2.7 E5400
ASUS P5KPL-AM EPU
4 GB Kingston DDR2

Thanks in Advance!

More about please suggest
  1. gtx 480-200 dollars on newegg
  2. I wouldn't get anything higher than a gt440/630, my dad has a system with e5200 and gts 250(upgraded from a 9500gt) and the gpu gets bottlenecked like crazy. I think the ati equivalent would be hd7750.

I tried running a e5200 with gtx 560 ti and it did worse than my mates q9400 with a 9600gt in games like cod black ops crysis 2 dx9.
  3. Haha a GTX 480 seems tad overkill,

Hmm thanks for the input Shamsmu, what about older cards like 9800 GTX?
  4. yeah the 9800gtx sounds like a solid choice for that system.

It will still get bottlenecked a little but would perform almost 2.5x better than 9500gt.
  5. If it is to be a 9800gtx then go for the + version as it runs cooler and uses less power. Also it is better built than the gts250. If all else settle for a 7750 or a 6670.
  6. Great! i'l try and source one then, i guess chances of finding a new one aren't that high or am i wrong?

yeah try to find a good conditioned 9800gtx+ for cheap, if your unable to find one. Then get the hd7750.
  8. is $80 a good price? found one in Amazon a eVGA 9800 GTX not a + one though
  9. hmm if I was you I'd get the hd 7750 for $20 more cause its a lot cooler, quieter, draws a LOT less power and supports dx11. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121633

    Don't pay more than $60 for a 9800gtx+
  10. Alright i'l take note of that and thanks for all the help it's much appreciated :)

What power supply do you have?
  12. The GTS 250 is the same exact card as the 9800 GTX+.
  13. The 9800GTX+ requires somewhat of a beefy power supply if I can remember correctly. A good 500W should do the trick. What is your power supply model?
  14. The PSU is Generic and i have no problems replacing it if need be. i can pick-up a 500w coolermaster if i can source a 9800GTX :)
  15. Coolermaster doesnt make a great lineup of power supplies save for their SilentPro series, which is really good.

Here is a very good power supply, that should be able to run the card that you want:

Same gpu and almost the same bios roms but the rest is different and sadly cheaper than the older 9800gtx series. BTW need to hunt down two more before they get to be as rare as my voodoo cards.
