Hello,
Recently my video went out and I thought I needed a new graphic card. I purchased one but it is still not working.
The RAM memory is fine as well as the motherboard, power supply etc.
My question is, is it possible for just the socket to go bad on the motherboard while the rest of it functions

I have a E-Machine T-6534

did you try your graphics card on other PC
try to clear cmos by jumper on the mother board or unplug power cable then remove battery for 5 minutes to clear cmos

I will try your recommendation first thing today.
No, I dont have another PC to try it in.
The reason I believe it is the socket is because the brand new one does not work either.
Side note: the internal graphic card built into MB does work via VGA.

I'll let you know.

Thanks

Well, Took out CMOS battery, waited 5 minutes, no luck.

I now have my monitor hooked up to the integrated video via VGA and it works fine.

However, the GE 610 Graphic card has to be left out of its slot or else integrated video will not work.
I really am starting to believe there is a problem with the socket on the MB that holds the graphic card

if the graphics work correctly on other PC, so you need a new motherboard.
