Which monitor should I get? + Response Times

Hey guys!

I am torn on which monitor I should choose to fit all of my gaming needs! I play games 90% of the time I use my computer, so I need it to be pretty fast and look pretty good. I will be plugging a game console into the monitor that I decide on so it must have at least one HDMI port.

The monitors I have been looking at are:

BenQ XL2420T: http://www.benq.ca/product/monitor/xl2420t

ASUS VH238H: http://ca.asus.com/en/Display/LCD_Monitors/VH238H/#overview

Dell S2340L: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=ca&cs=cadhs1&l=en&sku=320-9800

These are just a few that I like. Feel free to leave other suggestions below!

My real question is... What response times are good for gaming monitors? I play games every day and am pretty competitive about them. But is 2ms response time really needed? If it is then I cannot buy the Dell.

Please leave which monitor you think would be best for me down below and include what you think about response times and if you have any other suggestions for monitors.

Thanks!

    Hi :)

For a gamer 7 will be AWFUL... don't even think about it...

  4. 5ms is enough...just get a good monitor, an ips led backlit 5ms 1080p.

    Have any suggestions perhaps?
  6. Brand/warranty/customer servive matter if you get a bad one.

I would go with Dell, LG or Samsung myself. Lots of people here like Asus too.

+1 to that. You absolutely do not need 2ms (or 1ms!) - it's pure gimmick. Dell U2312(H/M) is an excellent option also. You definitely want to grab an IPS-panel display for colour quality/accuracy though.
  8. 5ms is good. I don't think you absolutely need 1-2ms for gaming
  9. Its 7ms. I have this monitor. I believe there is a huge diference between 7 and 5 ms, as 4 to 2ms. You can play, as I do, SCII with a 60Hz and 7ms monitor, but it would be better talk about 4 or 5ms at least to become a little more competitive. Is a particular disadvantage, not a big big gap.

Is idiot to say you MUST have 1ms monitor. Is just not true.
