GTX 570 or AMD 7850

So my MSI R6870 Hawk is about 11 months old now but I bought Battlefield 3 a week ago and I have endless issues with the graphics.

I'm seeing Spikes all over the place.
I posted on BF3 Forums about the issue and they all said that it's a overclocking issue

But I coudn't resolve the problem, so I'm probably going to sell my card and buy a new one that is a bit of a upgrade.

I'm looking at either the NVidia GIGABYTE GV-N570OC-13I or the AMD ASUS HD7850-DC2-2GD5.

I have found a website that has pretty much every single card bench marked.

And it seems that the 570 is much better but also note that it's a tad more expensive and I'm on a extremely tight budget.

I have been a supporter or the ATI Series for a while now but it might be time to move over to NVidia and give them a shot.

Any help regarding my R6870 Hawk will help or any advice for the new cards will be very appreciated.

The GTTX 570 would be the faster of the two, all comes down on how much you wanna pay for a few extra fps between them

I personally would get the HD 7850 less power consumed and can be overclocked significantly (if needed) in the future

Which drivers are you using?
You're not getting these spikes/something of the same type in the desktop are you?

Get the HD 7850. It doesn't seem to be that lagging behind.

Like they said, the HD 7850 is a bit slower than the GTX 570 but actually becomes faster when they are both overclocked.The HD 7850 also consumes less power.

I have used a lot of different drivers on the graphics card, downloaded every driver from the BF3 Driver release and the all do the same thing.

And it's only BF3 that has that issue, all my other games are working perfectly.

Does BF3 show the same problems during single player too?
I don't think it's hardware related in any sort of manner, so I can't guarantee the problem would go away if you buy new GPU.

At stock, the GTX 570 is stronger. When you overclock the 7850 it will be around the same performance as the GTX 570.

Have you updated your driver? To the new 12.6 (not BETA)

Get a Gtx 480 its as good as a 570, A lot cheaper, has more Vram, and can be overclocked to surpass a gtx 580!!

Yes single player has the exact same problem, it must be the graphics card because when I bought the game I had a ASUS P5N-D Motherboard, E8500 Core 2 Duo Processor, 4gb Memory. And on that same setup I had issues so it's obviously not graphics card (I stand to be corrected though.

Also yes I have the newest AMD Drivers installed and it's not the BETA Version.

I would like to get a 480 but I am limited to where I can import from since I don't have a proper debit or credit card.
I'm from South Africa.

Increasing voltage is only good if you want to overclock the card more without any system crashes, freezes.

I think You should buy a good brand 700 watt psu since you would be saving money by buying a gtx 480.

He can buy a custom cooler for the 480, this way it doesn't get as hot!

The 7850 is the better choice. You will just bottleneck with the 480.

Well I would love to get my hands on a 480 but I do have a issue with heat and noise.
So I think I'll get a 7850.
Can anyone recommend a specific 7850?

Guys stop spreading misinformation that GTX 480 gets hot and is very loud. It's not. Where do you get that idea from? Of course, it's hotter than HD 7850, but it doesn't mean you will have any overheating issues or anything like that.

Hey guys, just a quick update.

Sorry I haven't been posting but it's been crazy at home and work.

I actually resolved my MSI R6870 Hawk Graphics issues by increasing the voltage from 1174 to 1280.

I'm not exactly sure what that means but it helped a lot, I do still see a spike every 20-30 secs but you can barely notice it unless you're actually focusing on it.

Does it mean that I clocked from 1.17 to 1.28v?

Someone told me to clock it with .16 and it will resolve my issues which means that I have to clock it to 1.33 (1330)? (Not sure if it's safe)

Don't know if that's correct but if it is then I guess it will resolve ALL my problems!
