So I am in the process of a new all purpose build. Mainly to be used for Light gaming (nothing beyond 1920 X 1080), light video editing, general web surfing etc. I was originally looking at a budget of around $2k. That will obviously build me far more computer than I need, but I can afford it so why not. On the flip side while I don't mind spending money I don't like wasting money.

I will be reusing my existing monitors, keyboard, mouse, and storage drives.

I seem to be running well below what my estimated budget is which makes me happy, but makes me wonder if I am missing something. All prices are from Newegg, and are after any instant rebates if applicable.

If your going to be doing professional video editing in the future, the i7 will do you good and if just light, an i5 3570K will be more than enough. :)

Make sure that PSU is 80+ and has enough amps on the 12V rails. I suggest the Corsair HX series, btw.

Upgrade that 660Ti to the 670 and you will be happy. You can even SLI them, if you have a good 750W PSU. Which will provide the performance of a 690.

You dont need 2133MHz RAM. Its just plain overkill. 1600MHz is more than enough. Again, if professional editing in the future, 16GBs of RAM and if just light, 8GBs of RAM.

*For light video editing an 3770k might not be worth the extra 100$ over the 3570k, the i7 can only be fully utilized under heavy video editing/decoding/transcoding/rendering/creating/calculating heavy stuff.

*For light video editing, 16GB are not needed, and in case you happen to need them you can add 8GB more of RAM in the build listed bellow.

*Even if you do light-mid professional work the i5 3570k will still provide very decent performance, the i7 is only ~30% faster in professional work.

*The 256GB SSD is more like a luxury, most people use 128GB SSDs but that fills up really quick and 256GB SSDs perform faster.

*You can buy only 1 7970 and see how it performs and if you fell like you need more performance you can buy the second one, IMO you should buy them both right away because most people who say "i will get a second card later" never do it because of some new features that come with next gen cards like the next Direct3D api support, this is not the case because the 7970s support DX11.1 (next gen Direct3D api)

*You can overclock the hell out of those GPUs
