How do i recover my desktop icons on my home computer?

Hello,i got a computer in the house and it is called emachine that one is what i am trying to ask because its not showing the desktop window and the data is lost

Computer>system properties>system restore. You may be able to launch system restore in safe mode using f6 during bootup. But there's probably an easier way. What windows version are you using? Is this a computer you recently purchased, or have you changed motherboards?
