Overheating

I'm having overheating issues with my gaming rig.
AMD FX-8120 3.1ghz with AMD Radeon HD6850 just started overheating and shutting down playing WoW after 7 months running fine. Liquid cooled plus extra fans, 8g RAM, 800watt power supply. Web surfing fine, but when I hit graphic intense games, it's overheating and shutting down, but no alarms going off. Help? heh

More about : overheating

It isn't telling me what's going on, but it was showing 88c temp in bios pc health section when I finally got through the reboot, disc check stuff. I'm not too geewiz at trouble shooting, but fans are clean and running and rig is only 8mo old and just started doing this last few weeks. run the suggested catalyst updates and all when prompted.

check if all the fans are spining so for example make sure that the cpu fan is spinning as fast as usual and also make sure that the gpu and cpu fans are clean if not you will have to use a air in a can to clean it out

P.S. are you using a after market cpu cooler or stock?

Had it built from Cyberpowerpc and fans are running and pretty pretty clean.

not overclocked and I haven't messed with bios settings

I haven't talked to tech supprt from cyberpower, but my wife called them and I can send it in.Planned on calling them tomorrow, but my son in law suggested surfing the boards tonight to see if it's a common issue.

can you please tell me if you think its the cpu becuase you might have to replace the liquid in the liquid cooling device or the radiator has stopped working be sure to check if the radiator is working if it is check what kind of liquid is in the lc and post that

No clue what kind of fluid or how to check, but the top of the case where the radiator is is where it feels really hot when it happens. Blew dust from it with air can and the fan is spinning behind it.Not sure if it's spinning slower than usual, as it's a fairly new unit bought last Decmber. Never pulled it off and don't no how to check it.It's my first Liquid system

<----such a noob with this hardware.Never owned anything more than a dual core and nvidia have been all my prior vid cards.Fan on vid card was clean and spinning fine.Dunno if I'm underpowered with 800w, but the heat is highest above radiator unit on outside of case

Just send it back to cyber power, it's what they are for. Maintaining waterloops is very complicated and easy to screw up for the novice

His wife called and they said it was fine :p

ok, your right if you can't figure it out dont fret it's just a week gone and it will be fixed... oh and by the way nice system i have to admit I like the specs as well they run pretty damn well don't they :p

yeah i almost bought off them but I didnt have the budget to add 150 for them to build it so i built the exact same system as you. How are you liking the 8120 im a bit nervous that i made the wrong decision what do you say? is it good for gaming?

I keep it clear for ventalation and keep my ash tray with a candle on the other side of my desk to avoid tar gunk, heh. I do ok upgrading/expanding hardware when it get obsolete and extend the rig lif that way, but, like I said, new to the realm of radiated liquid units and over my head, lol

Yeah, I play LFD2 and WoW online and other self contained games and haven't had any issues until this. I like that they don't add all the adware stuf so it comes clean software-wise :)

My internet provider is a microwave signal base (Charter hasn't covered our subdivision yet *sigh* ) but a new company just took it over and is offering higher bandwidth, so when we upgrade, I'm gonna give it a try :)

yeah im hoping to be able to play bf3 ultra with crossfire and any game for at least the next year on ultra with good fps... dont forget I would use the crossfire do you personally think compared to how 1 works that I could achieve this goal?

I think so...with our lower bandwidth and 2 of us gaming on same router, it runs smooth, so crossfire option with this cpu should take the load really well without performance suffering at all.
