Hello,
I'm looking to build a new box:
Approximate Purchase Date: e.g.: this year
Budget Range: 800-1000 Before Rebates; After Shipping
System Usage from Most to Least Important: Development / Some Gaming / Some Movies
Are you buying a monitor: No
Parts to Upgrade: New Build
Do you need to buy OS: No
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg, amazon
Location: Baton Rouge, LA, USA
Parts Preferences: I like intel and asus
Overclocking: Later
SLI or Crossfire: No
Your Monitor Resolution: Dual Monitors 1920x1080 and 1280X1024
Additional Comments: I've got an ATI Radeon HD 4650 (old but runs skyrim on high), that I'm going to drop in
And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: The old Athlon X2 5600 with 4 Gigs of ram struggles when I'm running sql server, a virtual machine and a couple of instances of visual studio (or my computer is so old it has a floppy drive). Skyrim and Diablo III are the only gaming I really do and they seem to run fine. Next year I might drop in a new video card, more ram and more hard drives.
This is what I'm looking at
Mushkin Enhanced Chronos MKNSSDCR240GB 2.5" 240GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) $199.99
Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 $89.99
SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard $84.99
ASUS P8Z77-V LK LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS /
Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics New Egg Bundle $354.98
CORSAIR Builder Series CX600 V2 600W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply /
Corsair Carbide Series 300R Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case New Egg Bundle $133.98
Have I picked solid parts, can they handle the load and how much cheaper is the build likely to get if I wait a few months until the holidays.
Any advice appreciated.
