both kits will work. what is the application? vid editing? folding? or just plain gaming?

mostly video editing and some gaming and recording but the ram will be used for video editing/rendering

i'd go for the 16gb kit, if you are working with high res or 3d video, chances are you will hit a ceiling with the 8gb. plus at the price difference, you really can't go wrong.
