I live at home and my room is about 100 feet from the main house in the top of the garage. I recently bought a phone thing that lets me plug one box into the outlet in the house and attach it to a phone line, and plug the other box into an outlet in my room and a phone. So the phone signal runs through the electrical system. Does ayone know of anything like this for ethernet? I have seen the one that plugs into the wall and into the paralel port on your computer, but that is very slow. I did read a press release from 1999 that said technology had been developed to increase ethernet over power lines from 1 Mbit to 11 Mbit. Does anyone know if any products have been made to use it?

Or I would be willing to go wireless from my computers ethernet card to the hub in the house if it will reach OK, but I'm not sure that it will.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Bardic

P.S. I really don't want to have to buy 4 of the phone things and rig cat5 cable with 4 ends. :)

Wireless networking is quite good. Here is a recent review of some Linksys stuff under seemingly similar circumstances.
