I just put my i-5 in my motherboard. While I was pushing the lever down to secure it, it made a crunching like noise and I had to apply a lot of force to push the lever all the way down. Is this normal ... I have no clue whether or not I broke it? That brings me to my second questions. How can I test the cpu and motherboard to see if they work.

And if I want to see if the stock cooler is working, what do I need to plug into the motherboard? Just the power supply cable?

*I'm a first time builder and I just just dropped $200 to get this cpu*. Help would be appreciated

if you had to apply a lot of force, then maybe.

there should be a triangle you line up to put the chip into its slot.
