Hi, I have an ATI Radeon HD5670 and I am trying to update my driver, so I went to their site and put in my card model and downloaded the Catalyst Software Suite which includes the Display Driver, OpenCL(tm) Driver, AMD Integrated Driver and Catalyst Control Center, Is the Catalyst Software Suite needed? Or can I just use the website auto detect option to detect my driver? In another word, Is Catalyst Software Suite really needed? My have Win7 64 bit, does it matter where I install the new driver? Thanks a lot.

Technically, all you need is the driver, but using auto detect will just point you back to the proper version of the Suite. If you don't want the other parts, download the whole package and when prompted do a Custom Install. It will give you the option of installing just the driver and nothing else. I used to do that because Catalyst Control Center can be a memory pig, but I don't bother anymore.

Hey Temile, thanks for yesterday... That thread got deleted, I will paste the texts from the dxdiag in 4 hrs when I get home. Thanks again. I think I didn't install the CCC correctly, maybe because I used custom install? Does it matter what folder I install the CCC to?

update: So I tried to uninstalled all AMD softwares again, and then install it again but every time when I tries to install the CCC suite, my computer would crash (blue screen with texts), so I would had to do it over (unistall/install). Ok so after the 2nd install, myscreen resolation became 400x600 or something but the driver date in device manager shows a new date and its not from 2010 anymore but it says its not working correctly:

"Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)"

So I uninstalled the driver from device manager again, reboot, the window recognizes the driver and i guess installed it for me. Everything works fine again, but the driver date is back to 2010...
