CANON IXUS 40 VIDEO PROBLEM

I've had the Canon Ixus 40 for some months now. Superb product, but
I've been having problems with shooting video in daylight. The right
side of the screen has a red hue over it which is very noticeable. This
does not seem to occur when shooting indoors - only when outside and
bright. The problem is not with colour balance as I've tried altering
these settings. It may be due to flare, but it only ever happens on the
right side of the picture and occurs no matter where the lens is in
relation to the sun or clouds. Anyone had any similar problems? Do I
put up with it or is it a job the boys at Canon could fix? (I cant get
through on thier helpline)
