A quadro card will be your best option.

Depends on how much detail is in your models, if you are only doing simple designs like basic engineering and architecture you likely wouldn't miss having 2gb vram. If you are working on models that are much more complex than what I first suggested then every little mb is going to count. Beyond that go for a decent quadro.
