DVI or HDMI

hi, have the Samsung series 9 pls , 2560 x 1440 , have the Gigabyte 7970 oc .

was wondering which cable should i use to connect them. which one is better ?

HDMI , DVI , or that mini Display Port it has.

Hi

HDMI actually cannot support your resolution. additionally, the samsung monitors do not take display port. so we're down to DVI. there are actually a number of different DVI connections. in order to achieve your monitor's full resolution, You'll want a dual-link DVI cable

i bought the Monster Cable that says its their best HDMI cable, it transfers 21g of Hyper Speed Mseries. it costs $200 , i tried it out and its only a 1080p cable, it said it supports 4x the resolution of 1080p, but it was still a 1080p.

is there a HDMI cable that supports 1440p and the same quality as DVI ?

or is DVI still the best ?

I regular cheap DVi cable will do, you don't need anything fancy!

It came with the DVI cable, i guess until HDMI supports 1440p, ill just use DVI for 2560x1440 , and use my surround sound. ill keep waiting to use the Monitors dual built in Speakers.

don't forget, displayport has sound too. I think HDMI will just be phased out eventually, replaced by display port
