Need a PCIEx1 NIC for Dell XPS 8500 that works.

Does anyone have a successful install of a PCIEx1 NIC for a Dell XPS 8500?
I bought a Bytecc BT-PEGL Gigabit PCIE network card for my Dell XPS 8500 running Windows 8, but it is not detected.

doesn't the computer have a network interface on the motherboard backplate? why do you need another? given that it's a relatively new model, if it's broken then i'd find the warranty & get it fixed.

Yes it does, but I need two network connections in my situation.

I bought an Intel EXPI9301CT which works just fine in the XPS8500. I needed to disable the PC's ability to power down the card in the card's power control settings or a reboot was needed to restore it when the pc went to sleep. This card cost $29.99 which is 3 times more than the Bytecc, but I guess that sometimes you get what you pay for.
