2 Questions about building my new pc

Hey, i am building my first every pc next week and I have a few questions to ask.

1) I am going to be working in my living room using a wooden table. The floor is a carpet (i have no other place in the house which isnt carpet apart from my kitchen which has no space to work) so I was wondering how should i prevent any chance of static build up? Should I sit on a wooden chair with my feet off the ground and touch the metal case after putting components in, or do I really need an antistatic wrist band? I have never gotten even the slightest electric shock in my house if that makes any difference.

2) i have been watching tutorial videos, and i would like to know how do I use my hd tv as a monitor for my new pc after i build it. I have an HDMI cable if that is what I need.
