opening folders

Some how when i try to open folders like in program files or my documents my
computer opens the search folder upon double clicking the folders. I have
right clicked on these folders and found that the open option has been moved
down the list and search moved to the top. I can open the files by right
clicking on them and then hitting open or explore. I dont know how this
happened or how to fix it. I run windows XP.
