Which game system is better for new players - xbox 360 or ps3?

Hello,
I haven't purchased a game system in 20 years but want to start up again. Don't know whether to invest in PS3 or XBOX 360. Which is better for a "newbie" who wants to play Madden Football, Auto Racing and probably golf. Thanks. JL

Yup, pretty much either of those will get the job done.

At this point, I'd take a few things into consideration...will you be doing online gaming? How large are your hands? Do you prefer the PS3 controller or the xbox controller? Are you willing to pay a yearly subscription to play online? Which console are you most comfortable with? And ultimately, which console do most of your friends have?
