Setup wireless internet on Windows 98

Hi,

I have an old computer with Win98SE installed and want to set up wireless internet. I have a Netopia router (seems like only help I can find online are for Linksys) and Netgear USB adapter. Thing is, I've managed to make the actual wireless connection to my router, but the internet settings for the outside world are the problem. It cannot detect my proxy settings. Can anyone please help?

Thanks,

Mark

  1. Does the Internet work if you connect with Ethernet? If so, then the problem is the wireless connection. If not, then it is a router configuration problem.
  2. haven't been able to try that as i have no driver for the ethernet device, so it's just shown as an unknown ethernet device. but my xp computer works fine with same adapter and router.
