GTX 560 for sure of these 2 choices.

But you could always get something a bit faster for the same price of the 560. The 6870 is faster then the 560 and at the same price, Not faster by much but it is. Unless you go for the 560ti but they are a lot for a just 5 fps gain over the normal 560.

I haven't checked prices yet due to being out of the USA for a month...and lack of internet

But as the people posted above me, if the price is right, get the HD6870. Better bang for your buck for the same money :) if not cheaper.

@ Urban legend- yeah i'm pretty sure I read a thread like this yesterday.

@ looniam- the 7770 is ok, but lets say the OP gets a better TV; it won't perform as well.

@ Stuweedee123- A 550ti is easily beaten by a Radeon 6790 that is about the same price. Also for a small amount more you can get a Radeon 6850 or the Radeon 6870. Realistically an NVidia 560 will be pretty good down the road, or a Radeon 6870. Going the 560 way i'd buy this model-

The Asus version of this card has a great cooling solution and OC headroom.

Say he wants to go 720p to 1080p, the card might suffer some loss in performance; probably not much though.
While the 7770 is extremely capable of a card, for a little more he could get something abit more powerful.
Also one thing that is always a concern is drivers.
AMD drivers aren't the greatest from what i've read.

might?

got something other than . . guessing?

The Radeon HD 6790 or GeForce GTX 560 SE wud be my choice at $130.

The Radeon HD 6870 0rGeForce GTX 560 wud be my choice at $175.

At $200, the 560 Ti stands alone

At $220, the 560 Ti (900Mhz) stands alone and gives comparable performance to the $250 7850.

Well, reviews state the 7770 is almost like a 6850; the 6850 was unbeatable in its price range.

The 6850 vs. the 7770/outdo each other in some situations.

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/539?vs=536

they're both similar.

Now the 560 vs 7770

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/536?vs=543

The 560 outdoes it and the cheapest 560 model on newegg is this

The cheapest 7770 model on newegg is this

Only cons I see in the 560 is the power consumption and you have to pay a tad more.

We both know that the 7770 will kill a 550ti in price and performance ($130 range)
And the 560 is only about $30 more.
I'd just have a personal preference to go with the 560.

:pfff:
you can get a GTX 560-Ti @ that price..
The 1gb version is about $170..... I like the extra VRAM for BF3 which makes this one (which is the 2bg ver.) a little more and close to the price of a 1gb 560ti......

i never asked about a comparison with a 560. i asked why a 7770 would be less desirable than a 550ti simply because the OP got a better TV.

and since the specs are for a 720p TV; a 560, which i also prefer, would be unnecessary . . .

Oh if anything the 7770 would be a first choice over the 550ti.
But there will always be fanboyism
"Durr 550ti es waey bettar than an radon7770"
Or
"Hurr radon7770 es waey bettar than an 550ti"
Even when realistically the 7770 is just an overall better deal than the 550ti.
