Hello,

Forgive me if i make any kind of noobish mistakes, this is my first thread i have created.

I am interested in upgrading my xfx 6870 to a top notch graphics card, and i believe i have narrowed it down to two cards that are reasonably in my price range, what are your thoughts on what would be a better card?

The EVGA 670:

OR the Gigabyte 7950:
http://www.compusa.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1927008&CatId=7387

Also i am currently using a thermaltake 650 watt psu, would that be sufficient to run these cards? I know they are advertised for a minimum 500 watt, but i know that it is a rule of thumb to use a little more.

Again, sorry if i made any amateur mistakes, this is my first thread. :wahoo:

I have no idea why you would use compusa to buy your graphics card... Newegg has the same Gigabyte 7950 for $350. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125414

As for performance, a 7950 overclocked to 1GHz (same as the 7970 speed) will perform very similar if not near identical in some cases to the 7970, which out performs the 670 is just about everything. If you overclocked the 670 you'd get better performance too so really either card is fine but do not buy from compusa.

Do you plan on going 3 monitors in the future? Then the 2GB is plenty

4GB is unnecessary. Especially when you could buy a 7970 that will outperform it and has 3GB of VRAM for the price of that compusa 670...
