I just would like to know, in chronological order, every piece of hardware a mouse click goes through until it shows up on my monitor. And if knowable how fast this information can possibly travel (i.e. Mouse to monitor 26ms).

I want to know this because I am trying to build myself the fastest and most responsive gaming desktop in under $2000.

If it's useful information I'm talking specifically about when I shoot in an FPS.

More about : click

My best guess is - Mouse, Mouse cable, Motherboard, CPU, Memory, (maybe several times CPU, Memory) Motherboard, GPU, Monitor cable, Monitor. I do not know the latency on each of these devices so cannot help you with the speed question.
