no matter what this device can not start and will not reinstall.
I have a motherboard with a radeon 4200 built into it (integrated) but right now I am using a (plain) pci diamond something (no gpu in the card straight from the early 90s pentium 1 computer).
Reason for this is... I had some strange problem one day while playing slashem (a very low graphics intensive game) in which the whole screen locked up 30 seconds later went black and then my monitor said no signal. I have absolutely no idea why. The board is just a bit less than 2 years old. I did not change anything, or update drivers, and windows XP is ALWAYS set to never update. The only thing I installed recently was a friends copy of a super high end graphics game that was a bit to resource intensive for this computer to run smoothly, and I uninstalled it anyway after it barely ran.
Everytime I try and uninstall and then reinstall the drivers
(it has been rolled back first but that didn't work)
it either crashes to blue screen of death while trying to install the file ati2mtag.sy_ or installs all parts (after I have to search for each one in the AMD_Catalyst_12.4b_Hotfix_XP folder) but then says there is a problem with the installation your device might not work correctly.
In device manager it has (!) yellow icon and it says This device cannot start. (Code 10) in the properties window.
What am I supposed to do with this?
is it possible that in less than 2 years this hardware burned out?
If so then how do I kill it so that it will not try and install for it anymore
(everytime I reboot it tries to install it even though I chose disable device now that I have my blazing non gpu 16 million color and only at 800x600 res vid card running)
Eventually I'll have go to freegeek and get another card unless somehow this onboard one can get working again.
btw everytime I try and install it/uninstall and reinstall it etc...
I reboot and plug the monitor into it only to be reminded by the monitor that there is No Signal.
