Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to connect 2 computers Via Lan cable, both machines are on WIndows 7. I'm facing a hard time on this, i have tried all permutations and combinations.

I made sure both comps are on the same work group
I made sure there is no IP conflict so assigned a unique IP adress to each,
Checked both the Lan cards its fine.

It shows LAN connected but the other computer logo never displays on each others computer.

Only once was i able to connect and was able to access the shared files,

But when i tried to launch the COunter strike game it was unable to locate any Lan players on the game.

Please any input would be really helpfully, I have been trying from 2 days with no luck

Thanks,

Try this... its worked for me (Counter-Strike too!!)

1. Assign the PCs IPs
2. Set the network adapters to "Auto mode" under speed & duplex settings.
3. Connect the PCs (you could use a straight cable, the PCs will negotiate a proper connection under auto mode)

To check connectivity, ping one PCs IP from the other.
Let me know if this helps!!

This part about using a regular patch cable only works if at least one of the computers has Auto Config for the NIC. Otherwise needs to use Crossover cable between the two computers.

Don't confuse "Auto" with auto-sensing the speed.
