Hello, Is there a way to get around this error and recover my pictures and data

You can try putting the hard drive in a ziplock and then in the freezer. Then, while still cold, reinstall it and see if thats enough to get you access.

Be prepaired and have your alternate media ready and work as fast as you can. If this works at all you may not have acces to the drive for very long to copy those pictures to another place. Use something FAST like a high speed flash drive or external HDD, don't wait around to burn DVD's.
