I have, for the most part, confirmed all of my specs for this build except for the PSU, so I would like to get some input one last time before I go through with ordering everything for my first gaming rig build. My main specs:
Sapphire Radeon HD 7850 1GB
Intel Core i3-3220 3.3Ghz
ASRock H77M Micro ATX LGA1155 Motherboard
Rosewill Challenger U3 case. Comes with 3 fans
My budget for PSU can not exceed $70 before rebates. I am looking for quality and enough Amps to support my system without harming it.
According to http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine, my video card's max watt is about 184. Taking that, and using this guide for amps: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/314712-28-please-read-determine-power-required
I came up with around 15 amps for the card, and doing the rest of the suggestions, I get 35 amps.
Given all these factors, these are the PSUs I've picked and am deciding on:
XFX 550W PRO550W Core Edition $65 @ NCIX (After rebate: 55$)
Non-modular,single rail, +12v 40A, 5 year warranty
http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=59615&vpn=P1550SXXB9&manufacture=XFX
Rosewill Hive 550W 80 PLUS Bronze $65 @ Amazon
Modular, +12v 38A single rail, 3 year warranty
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005ILWY9G/?tag=pcpapi-20
Rosewill CAPSTONE Series 450W $60 @ Amazon (Can go Semi-modular for $10 more)
Non-modular version, Single rail, +12V 37A
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B006BCKDGW/?tag=pcpapi-20
This is my last thread before I order all of my parts for a budget gaming PC.
I would like to know if these are good quality PSUs and which one would be the best buy; and whether or not modular is worth it over a higher watt PSU. The XFX appears to be the best as far as amperage, but I do not know the quality of them.(Although it is JohnnyGuru recommended.)
And would all these support my build? I don't plan to overclock or use two video cards. The only thing I might possibly do is install a SSD sometime in the future. This PSU may also be used in future builds if necessary.
