I have a Dell Inspiron One with the AMD Athlon X2 250U processor running at 2.6 GHz. Is there a viable upgrade to an AMD processor running 3.5 GHz or so that is compatible with that MoBo? Looked at Athlon B30 or Phenom 570. Anyone have any G2 on whether those will working without melting the MoBo?

Thanks

The best you are going to be able to run in that machine due to it's power supply and cooling limitations is going to be the Athlon II X2 240E @ 2.8Ghz. This is a significant speed improvement over your current CPU of 1.2Ghz as the 250u does not run at 2.6 rather it runs at 1.6Ghz (maybe that was a typo on your behalf) Anything above the 240E will draw too much power and therefore create too much heat resulting in a very unhappy system and user.

Upon further research there is also a quad core option in the AMD Athlon™ II X4 610E @ 2.3GHz. Hope this was helpful.
