CPU running to hot?! Tags: CPUs Thermal Compound Intel i5 Last response: January 13, 2013 5:11 PM in CPUs Share sbuster0922 January 12, 2013 10:47:47 PM I have the i5 2400 and I have a Cool Master Hyper 101 with 2 fans one push one pull, I reapplied the thermal paste and my cpu is running at 38-42 Celsius at normally internet browsing. Is this normal or should it be running a lot cooler? Your idle temps are not a problem themselves, but they probably reflect an inability to fully dissipate your CPU's max power. (The second fan isn't going to close the gap) I recommend a TX3 (if you don't want to install a back plate) | Report abuse Reply to Z1NONLY sbuster0922 January 13, 2013 4:06:13 PM You really didn't answer a damn thing for me... Is it running to hot? Really? When I wrote this: Z1NONLY said:*snip*Your idle temps are not a problem themselves*snip* I was saying that your temps are not too hot when you are idling. (ie "your idle temps are not a problem themselves.") So great news! If all you ever do is idle (surf the web), your CPU will not overheat. If that's your only concern, you have your answer, and you have no need to read any further. However, if you intend to run your CPU under load, your temps will probably go higher. If you care about how high they will go, load testing is the best way to find out. The fact that you are using a 70w cooling solution on a 95w CPU doesn't bode well for your load temps. | Report abuse Reply to Z1NONLY Register or log in to remove Ask the community Post an answer Tom's Hardware>Forum>CPUs>CPU running to hot?!> Related ressources: ForumCPU Running Hot ForumCPU still running hot after Heatsink change ForumHELP CPU RUNNING WAY TO HOT ForumCPU fan stock running hot ForumCPU Temp running egregiously hot on temp ForumIs my cpu running hot ?
