Which GPU for gaming??? pick one for me!!

CPU: phenom II x4 830 (2.8ghz)
Ram: 8g
Mobo: I don't know.. (compact size with am3+socket)

I'm thinking about upgrade my GPU, which one should I buy??

my lists are:
Radeon 6950 2g:

gtx560ti
I hae no idea which one is good..there are bunch of 560ti that seems same but different prices...

gtx570

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I thought about 6870 for the money, but i decided to invest little more for the future.

I'm not sure what games i will play, but definetely guild wars 2!! and I might play bf3 and MWs.

GTX570 seems good card, but little bit pricy for my budget.. because i have to buy PSU and case too.

I think 6950 2g seems good for buck and it also give coupon for BF3 XD..

What would you guys think?? free to reccomend other GPUs.

More about which gaming pick
  1. How much are you willing to pay for a GPU? That would give me a better idea to suggest one.
  2. hmmm i'm not sure...

    I can spend around 250

However, i want price low as possible with decent fps on high setting(I don't need max setting) with modern games.

    I also thinking about radeon 7850 : )
  3. go for the 7850.
570 is better when both of the clocks are stock, but the 7850 shoots ahead when they are both overclocked.
    http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/xfx_hd_7870_7850_dd/9.htm
  4. If you care about PhysX, then go for the GTX 570, otherwise, go for the 7850, both are good cards.
  5. GTX 570 is the faster card, hands-down. The 7850 uses less power, has more VRAM capacity. The GTX570 has higher power usage, lower VRAM capacity, bottom line... IDK why so many people have said they are identical performance wise The 7870 is more or less identical to the GTX 570 in terms of performance but not the 7850. Not stock vs stock or max OC vs max OC.at least not according to these benchmarks http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/AMD/HD_7850_HD_7870/26.html You see different benchmarks will say different things test benches differ from system to another system.

And always performance gets improved with newer driver.
  6. With that phenom ii cpu dont go above gtx560ti. More than gtx560ti, there will be bottleneck by your cpu.
  7. By OC the CPU, he can mitigate the effects of bottlenecking the GPU with the GTX 570.
  8. It seems

    gtx570> 7850> 560ti = 6950 2g

    but for 570 and 7850

i have no idea how to oc GPU and CPU...

and I think my mobo and cpu might not support OC..

then what is my best option? still gtx570??

do you guys think my cpu will bottleneck 570??
  9. I would get the GTX 570 because of PhysX support and it's quicker out the box if you are not into OC. Also, if you game at 1920x1080, then the GTX 570's VRAM will be enough to to crank up the settings.

Just OC your CPU and you will be fine. If you can't, then it won't be a terrible bottleneck, it would be different if you were trying to use a GTX 570 on a P4 CPU, lol
  10. Ok.. i guess gtx570..

but which product can you recommend one with good price? and what PSU for 570??

Also, how can i check CPU OC is available for my pc??
  11. go for the ASUS 7850 with Direct CU and overclock it to 7870 stock numbers and it leaves the 570 waaayy behind

overclocking the GPU is no rocket science

No, he cant. No oced bulldozer processor cant reach i5-2400 processor. SO how it can beat i5-3570K?

Where did I say it will be as fast or faster than those CPU's you posted? I said that OC his CPU would help against bottlenecking, NOT ELIMINATING the bottleneck entirely. Please read before you call out people. ;)
  15. AMD/ATI drivers are buggy.

But there is always a fix and stable release. I am running ccc 12.6 and having no problem.

I didnt mean like that. I just mixed with another post where i suggest i5-3570k cpu. :)

But my point is if he even cant reach close to gpu limit then why waste money on high end gpu. Better to get a gpu which can be utilize fully by his cpu.
  18. I just picked up the 7850 to go with my Phenom II x4 965 and it's awesome.
  19. there is no quad core CPU that bottlenecks ANY modern game ...wth, so stop the crap with .."omg AMD cpu...bottleneck"

You dont see any visual bottleneck. Check your game fps and you will see frame loss. If you are happy with that, then it dose not matter. :)

Cpu dont bottleneck games but to gpu. So stop the crap with what you dont know yet. Always check benchmark first.

  22. Right, if you want your best bang for buck, then you want a GTX 660. For the price of a 2GB HD 7850, you can get a considerable performance increase.

    ASUS GTX 660
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121660

    EVGA GTX 660
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130825

    Gigabyte GTX 660
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125443

    Zotac GTX 660
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814500291

And, by the way, your Phenom CPU will not bottleneck the GTX 660. You can pair one of those with a HD 7950 with only a slight bottleneck, so you should be fine.
