freezing up freezing up

my computer locks up so much now cant hardly do anything with it.. tryed nortons utility and did not help.. it has a 400 mhz celleron, 64 m ram any suggestions... losing my patience with this thing..

Have you defragmented your harddrive? Is your cpu getting proper cooling. Have you tried cleaning out your system. What Operating System are you using? What programs are you trying to run when it locks up?

yes the cpu has a working fan mounted on it, the os is windows 98 se, and the inside of the case is very clean. could it be windows thing?? any help is apreciated thanks
