  1. Yes you can. PCI express is almost totally backward compatible. Just don't use PCIe 2.1 card in 1.0 motherboard. You can use 1.0, 1.1, 2.0 and 3.0.
  2. Thanks Sunius,

Any recommendations for a card. I am just setting up a system for my 9 year old. I have an old pentium 4 system ( Intel MB D915GAG with 2Gb ram) and wanted to put in a low cost ($35-45) dedicated graphics card that could run Windows 7.

    Thanks,

    Mike
  3. To be honest, something from generations back would suffice for your needs.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127613 This for example, would work perfectly fine.
  4. I'd suggest something like this:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161409

I know it's a bit more expensive, but at least you're not tossing your money away. It's few times more powerful than HD 4350.

    Very true.

Shame on me, I just picked something that came to mind at the moment.

This card is Express 2.1 and you had said that it may not work. Any other suggestions. I do like the idea of spending slightly more if there is a benefit.

    Thanks,

  7. You could try for as cheap used card on Ebay look for a Radeon 45xx-47xx even a 4850 can sell very cheaply. There are similar Nvidia cards but im not familiar with the models. Also check the power supply is up to this as older cards are less efficient. If your not going to be gaming almost anything will do.
